What we have before us: An annual Micromex Community Satisfaction telephone survey was conducted to 601 residents, 138 via landline and 463 via mobile phone. The survey included two questions about demerger in an attempt to extrapolate why 62.5% voted in favour of demerging last December 1400+ people completed the online survey, or posted in paper copies (which were entered by staff – note that a small number of paper surveys were not able to be entered due to respondents not providing valid responses). The Johnstons had begun subdividing their 1799 Land Grant. There were a few houses and industries along Parramatta Road and on the water front. The 1960s saw the building of modern red brick houses and flats on vacant land or where Victorian houses were demolished. The demolition of these houses lead to the formation of the Annandale Association. Expressways were threatening but Green Bans and Community Activism over the next 10 years saved Annandale. Great to see low energy homes including annual energy use rather than efficiency. We need performance - the efficiency ratings are misleading it is actual energy use that is important - Small efficient fridge uses less energy than large efficient fridge! The new code makes some of innerwest draft low carbon precinct incentives now base requirements - now onto low carbon tansport. new building code: Low Energy Homes (26 aug 20220 Building Ministers have agreed to improve the energy efficiency of new homes through the National Construction Code (NCC). As of NCC 2022, new residential dwellings will need to achieve the equivalent of “7 stars” NatHERS thermal performance. New homes will also have a new annual energy use budget applicable to the home’s major appliances such as space conditioning, hot water, lighting, pool and spa pumps, and any on-site renewable energy generation. In my view (but I could be wrong as I was only a community member and not a councillor on Leichhardt Council), the business case assumes we have acheived all that was promised by the amalgamation and shows no understanding of the pain the community has endured and the reduction of services. It is true that councillors now need to be across a larger area in the case of Gulgadya it extends from half of Annandale, to Croydon, taking in Haberfield and Leichhardt (suburb) as well as a part of Ashfield (suburb) along Parramatta Road. Half was in Leichhardt and the other half in Ashfield council with their very different policies and services.   Examples are: Scheduled vs Booked Pickups (even those in the Marrickville LGA are complaining about dumping and they loved their booked service) The selection of people for the so called "Local Democracy" groups the administrator set up to replace the open advisory committees (I was a regular at the Heritage Committee of Leichhardt Coucil an...

Bruny Island Battery Trial "CONSORT is an ARENA funded research project and field trial, which addresses how batteries can be used by householders to manage their energy while simultaneously being used to help manage the network. During the trial, 34 battery systems were installed in homes on Bruny Island in Tasmania’s south-east.
