More changes in Annandale and Rozelle

The proposed modification relates to Westconnex 3b and are in the Inner West and City of Sydney Local Government Areas (LGA). Modification includes: A new elevated vehicular overpass at The Crescent (the overpass) changes to the eastbound lanes of the City West Link and The Crescent Annandale  modification to the intersection of The Crescent/Johnston Street/Chapman Road (including lane reconfiguration and marking, signal phasing, adjusting positions of traffic signals kerb works etc.) Change to the Pedestrian and cycling green link (green link) to the west of The Crescent A new horseshoe shaped shared path bridge spanning The Crescent to the east of The Crescent/City West Link intersection. Westconnex proposes to destroy Buruwan Park and the Crescent Mural

The Crescent Mural On 20 November 2018 Inner West Council voted unanimously to nominate the iconic and much-loved The Crescent mural in Annandale for heritage listing. The mural was created in 1980 by artist Rodney Monk. The sprawling mural at has been described as ‘the peoples mural’. It was commissioned by the then-Leichhardt Council as an employment scheme for unemployed artists. The mural was inspired by the community activism around key events such as opposition to the Vietnam War and the sacking of the Whitlam government, but also social movements such as personal liberation including sexuality, gender, racism and ethnicity, and the self-expression of alternative lifestyles and cultural activities.- The Mural Investigation (2010) Buruwan Park Over 20 years of bushcare and ecological restoration. Buruwan Park Annandale

Buruwan Park Annandale is a rare green space threatened by Westconnex. Rally, 15 Feb 2019. Photo Tony Grech The park was created around 1995 by converting Gordon Road Annandale to park and connecting pockets of land owned by Sydney Water and Sydney Trains. The park is adjacent to White's Creek and has many mature trees including an outstanding Fig Trees. Volunteers and Council contractors have introduced and cared for local provenance plants in the park since its creation. Buruwan Park, 2018 Buruwan Park, 2018 Buruwan Park provides a pedestrian cycle link between the Rozelle Bay Light Rail Stop and the 433 Bus Stop on  the Crescent Annandale.
