2023 Inner West Business Awards (10 May 2023) Inner West Council is a major sponsor of the Inner West Business Awards along with BigClean and Nova Employment . Burwood and Strathfield Councils also support the event along with WhiteKey Marketing and Radio 2RDJ with the Commonwealth Bank - Small Business being the presentation partner. Corner Stone and Western Sydney Express also in the mix. The most impressive aspect of the event is the diversity of business owners who make the choice to give up their time, get dressed up and have a night out at the Burwood RSL with their teams - some generation family businesses. The Inner West votes to Deamalgamate

On December 4, the Inner West Council put a Poll question to the electorate alongside the election of new councillors. Though the vote is not binding on council the result was a clear message. The Poll Question:  In May 2016, Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville councils were amalgamated into one local government area by the State Government. Do you support the Inner West local government area being de-amalgamated, so as to restore the former local government areas of Ashfield, Leichhardt and Marrickville? Voter Turnout: 80.73% Informal Rate: 2.55% Results are available at https://vtr.elections.nsw.gov.au/LG2101/inner-west/results A cost benefit analysis was prepared and a yes and no case were distributed to every voter and translated into various languages. Inner West Council Administrator, General Managers and Councillors

May 2016 : Inner West Council was proclaimed on 12th day of May 2016 amalgamating Leichhardt, Marrickville and Ashfield Councils. Richard Pearson was appointed as the Administrator during initial period. Vanessa Chan (former GM Ashfield Council) was appointed Interim general manager and Peter Head (former GM Leichhardt Council) and Brian Barrett (former GM Marrickville Council) deputy general managers of the new council. Local Traffic Committee Meeting - August 2020 amendments: Notes the safety concerns of residents on Chandos Street Note that the IWC Local Area Improvement Strategy (LAIS), relied in the report to the Traffic Committee, was written prior to the opening of the M4 East tunnel. As such it does not contain current traffic data, and needs to be updated and reviewed prior to any local road closures being implemented. Note that Transport for NSW has advised it has received over 3,000 submissions to their proposed changes to local roads in the area and will provide a further consultation report in September 2020. Write to Transport NSW to provide an updated traffic study for the area as required by a condition of the opening of the M4 East; fund council to review and implement the IWC LAIS in the light of the traffic study.
