Shoppers who walk to supermarkets are faced with the challenge of getting their shopping home. Some supermarkets double cross their walking shoppers by locking their trolleys beyond the Cash Register leaving pedestrians to deal with a load of shopping. Open day at the Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery   Saturday, 25 May, 10am-1pm 22 Wisdom Street, Annandale   Inner West Council manages two community native nurseries - Marrickville Community Nursery and Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery. Volunteers at the nurseries use locally sourced seed to propagate local native plant species. The plants are used at Bushcare sites across the Inner West, and in Council’s ecological restoration, parks and streetscapes projects. The nurseries are also open to the public to make plants available for residents to use on their properties. Local native plants provide habitat for native wildlife. These plants are generally easy to maintain and require less water and care than many non-native plants. Local native plants have adapted to the local area’s climate and other environmental conditions. Volunteers are essential to the success of both nurseries. On May 14, the Inner West Council voted unanimously to declare a Climate Emergency and adopt KPIs in the CEOs performance agreement and for Council. The KPIs to also include measures on Renewable Energy we resolved to undertake in October 2017.
