WalkingCities aren’t built for older people – our study shows many can’t walk fast enough to beat a pedestrian crossing
To many people, crossing a road at a traffic light is a mundane task
requiring little thought or effort. But for the growing population of
senior citizens with limitations to their mobility, strength or balance,
crossing the road can be a stressful and sometimes life-threatening
experience.

Guide Dogs and Service Dogs (2023)
Guide-dog schools take great care to match a dog with a compatible human because dog and handler will navigate the world with each relying on the other.
Guide dogs were first trained in Germany to assist World War I veterans. ..

Hi Roads Review,
Today, I just (sun 21 sep 2025 around 9.35am) lodged a complaint with
Transport about being stranded on island because light never changed for
pedestrians to cross at intersection of richardson cres and unwins road
bridge. I do not yet have a response so, cannot provided you with
complaint number.
The nearby bridge over cooks river requires pedestrians to walk in
single file and only one way when crossing - photo attached (dated 28
August 2025).
Without even considering those with shopping trolleys (the kind you take
home - as opposed to those for use in shops and carparks), prams,
bicycles or in wheelchairs.
So, walking infrastructure maintenance is poor.
