A regular weekend at the Annandale Community Centre

Playing the Saw with a Cello Bow
Made it to the Loaded Dog Folk Club on Saturday night and the Open Inner West Cullinary Tales with Saida on Sunday morning in the back hall.




Learned how to chop parsley, mint, spring onions and tomato finely and which burghul to use and how to soak it for tabouleh.

Then best of all, we got to sit down and eat what we had helped prepare.
The final touch - Pomegranate Sauce
On Saturday night, there was also an 18th Birthday in the upstairs hall and on Sunday morning there was a young crew making a film.

The Community Centre has such great popular spaces with lots of activities throughout the week and venues to hire for your event.

Checked out White's Creek Catchment in the rain with a few long time residents including an 82 year old who was born at the Private Hospital where the Leichhardt Bolo is and moved to where she lives now when she was 1. She has seen a few changes and people come and go.    Ferris Lane looked fabulous!    The new lintel in Ferris Street seemed to be working well - residents have worked with council to make this happen along with cleaning out nearby drains and gutters.   Evan Jones Playground had a tree down. And a few other trees need mulching.

Len and Dilys Williams and the Hunter Baillie Presbyterian Church

The Rev. Leonard Mervyn Williams and his wife Dilys came to the Hunter Baillie in 1956. The church was in decline and the threat of falling masonry had made it impossible to obtain public liability insurance. (p39, Hunter Baillie ) Dilys conducted alternate services at Leichhardt and Hunter Baillie Presbyterian churches with her husband and was inducted, in 1969, as the first woman Elder in NSW. (p41, Hunter Baillie ). Ferguson Library Archivist mentioned in her talk at the church on 4 September 2010, that Dilys Williams in the 1930s had applied to the Presbyterian Church of Australia General Assembly to be Accepted as a candidate for the Ministry. Her application was "laid on the table" and was never dealt with. The stained glass window on the northern side of the church was restored in memory of the Williams' time at the church.
