Boomalli invited its Artist members to curate their own POP-UP studio spaces.

Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative was established in 1987 by a diverse group of ten artists.

The Co-operative's core aim is to promote and support Aboriginal Artists from NSW language groups.

Artists include: Nadeena Dixon, Debra Beale, Sharon Smith, Graham Toomey, Jeffrey Samuels, Darren Charlwood and more.

James Powditch is a mixed media artist and 5 times Archibald finalist. His studio in an old butchers shop in the heritage listed Goodman’s building is part workshop and museum.

Beyond Exploration - Tanya Hoolihan

Botanical and Natural History illustrator Tanya Hoolihan gives a artist talk and Q&A at Leichhardt Library about her current exhibition on the scientist and explorer Ludwig Leichhardt. Tanya is tracking and painting plants in the same places first recorded by Leichhardt in the 1840s.

Talk:  7.30pm Tuesday 7 May, Leichhardt Town Hall 

Three Ludwig Leichhardt experts take a look at his life and legacy from different perspectives.

Our special guest, John M. Wenitong, author of The Vanishing: The Rainbow Serpent’s Dance, gives an often overlooked Indigenous historical account of Ludwig expeditions.

Historian Dr Andrew W. Hurley launches his new book, Ludwig Leichhardt’s Ghosts – The Strange Career of a Traveling Myth and explores why Ludwig Leichhardt’s legacy has endured.

Artist Tanya Hoolihan has studied his botanical observations and diaries and will share her learnings.
