"One day the Major was driving out in his gig to visit this George's River farm, and give some instructions to the servant in charge of it, when he overtook the Baron, about four miles from Sydney, walking along the Parramatta Road. The Major pulled-up, and inquired the destination of the old gentleman. 

"I am going," said he, " to George's River to see Colonel Johnstone, from whom I wish to ask a favour. "David Johnstone the third son of George Johnston died in 1866 at his property at Georges Hill, near Liverpool. 1866 description of Johnston's Creek: "A small creek passes through and drains the lower part of the Burying Ground, which in one portion is swampy and well occupied by decaying humanity. This open drain during rain, and even many days after, is constantly running. However, Cowan and Israel fortune's changed when the the British Government awarded to Cowan's family's firm Messrs. In 1866, the Central Police Court ruled in favour of the Annandale Toll Operator, that he correctly collected a toll on an empty cart. In 1866 the width of the carriage and footway for Parramatta Road from the bridge over Johnston Creek to 6 chains beyond Missenden Road was established.

In October, Mrs Mosman, who resided at Annangrove Cottage offered a reward for the return of her red and white "Milch" cow. If the cow was found to have strayed, then the reward would be 10Shillings.
