That the National General Assembly request the Commonwealth Government to initiate a Referendum at the earliest opportunity seeking agreement for recognition of Local Government in the Australian Constitution.

Objective: Applies across the nation

Key Arguments: Local Government presently depends on the continued will of the various State legislatures to empower local governments to exist and perform various functions. It seems preferable that the Commonwealth entrench the right for Councils to exist and perform certain roles.
